In this video, Bryony Dean Franklin from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust talks about their Shine 2012 project to improve patient safety through feedback on prescribing errors.
There were three parts to the intervention:
- They gave junior doctors name stamps to make it easy to identify who has given a prescription and contact them if there are any questions or issues
- They provided training and support to pharmacists to give better and more useful feedback to doctors
- They began sending out a 'prescribing tip of the fortnight' by email to junior doctors
At the end of this video, Bryony also gives her top tips for organisations wishing to apply for funding from Health Foundation innovation programmes.
