Winter, a dead season? Not at all !
This short (9 minutes) dynamic slideshow shows you the mysteries of spring hidden in the heart of winter...
If many gardens seem sleeping during the cold season, winter brings always a joyful and secret natural colored show ! In Meise Belgian Botanic Garden (Brussels), from January till end of March, a free trail shows the visitor the "Winter Magic" with stunning little flowers. It is like spring before spring, or spring hidden inside winter. Then you can see snowdrops showing next spring, but also white forsythia of Korea, flowering and pink colored Kos cyclamen, yellow and white other flowers, ruby petals and stamens of Persian beech. And last but not least, at the end of the video: here are the fabulous members of hamamelis family with yellow, gold, purple, red small and tiny petals!
The warm colors of the coppery skin of the paper-bark maple or the purple berries of the round-leaved snowberry...
The path, signposted, takes the visitor for about 2 hours through colors and short botanical stories. This is a unique opportunity to discover dozens of winter plants, often rare but always beautiful.
After this beautiful winter walk and to get some warm and tropical temperatures,: let’s go to the Palais des Plantes which invites you to travel among its exotic flowers, palm trees, carnivorous and jungle plants, cacti and shrubs... Sheltered in the historic greenhouses, plants and summer are eternal !
