Happy belated 40th birthday, to both EPCOT Center, and it's original Mexico pavilion boat ride, El Rio Del Tiempo! This is one more EPCOT Center loop for now, which was the music from the Fiesta scene of El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico (RIP 1982-2007). This was a really awesome version of the boat ride that is still there, that explored the historical and modern culture of Mexico as a whole, instead of The Three Caballeros overlay that's been there since 2007. While Gran Fiesta Tour is not horrible (Unlike Frozen Ever After..), even reusing many elements from this classic & wider look at Mexican culture especially in this Fiesta scene, I can't help but wish Disney never took out the Mexican culture theme in this ride as well. The Three Caballeros ride largely doesn't amazingly capture the movie it depicts, and while I think El Rio wasn't perfect either, it did a much better job executing it's intended experience and theming, and absolutely could've been updated for a modern audience instead of rethemed like what happened in 2007. And no, despite enjoying that movie too, I do NOT want any Coco ride in the pavilion either, because besides some shared thematic elements, that movie is still not a better fit for the boat ride than showcasing the true life culture and history of Mexico. On the flip side, this classic ride took guests on a literal river of time, from the ancient cultures of the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas, to a modern fiesta in a Mexican village, before traveling further down the river (With tropical beaches, Citizens, including several merchants, a Mariachi Band, and many other staples of Mexican culture along the way) to another Grand Fiesta in Mexico City. The configuration was pretty similar, except the story it told was more coherent and actually had more to do with Mexico, the culture it's trying to depict. Obviously, this is a 15+ minute loop of just the first Fiesta music, because as much as I love the whole score of this version, this has always stood out as the most memorable part for me. The whole scene is very vibrant and colorful (Especially with the old, light blue bridge and other different colors), and this old music is a wonderful type of earworm for me, almost as great as it's a small world. Speaking of that ride, some of my next few videos will actually be 10+ minute loops from the Magic Kingdom's version of that ride, which will definitely be in the next few days. I hope you enjoy this classic audio!
