Toronto mayor John Tory, Dr. Eileen De Villa, Toronto’s medical officer of health, and Chief Matthew Pegg, Fire Chief & General Manager of Emergency Management held an update on the COVID-19 situation in the city.
Mayor Tory started by thanking Toronto residents complying with the social distancing measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Dr. De Villa said there are 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Toronto as of Thursday.
The total number of cases in the city is 339, with 22 cases in hospital, ten in ICU, and four deaths.
She added that 25 per cent of the total number of cases is attributed to community spread.
Dr. De Villa also said that there are now COVID-19 outbreaks in three long-term care facilities in Toronto, an outbreak is declared when two or more cases of infection occur at the facility.
