Meet JR Shaw, founder of Shaw Communications, and the namesake of NAIT's business school. NAIT's Ruth Juliebo sat down with JR at Shaw Communications' headquarters in Calgary to get his insights into entrepreneurship, leadership, success and giving back.

JR Shaw is one of Canada's most successful, and well-respected entrepreneurs who fondly remembers connecting his first cable customer in Sherwood Park in 1971. Shaw Communications now has over 13,000 employees serving 3.4 million customers from coast to coast.

JR's commitment to community service pulled him into NAIT circles. He helped lead the fundraising campaign for NAIT's South Learning Centre, donated precious items such as a 1949 Oldsmobile to auctions and chaired the Board of Governors from 1990 to 1997.
