Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, has refused to entertain speculation around a possible fiscal crisis in the country. This follows revelations that National Treasury has advocated for increased cost-cutting measures among government departments, including placing a moratorium on recruiting new public sector workers.
The Minister also says while the National Health Insurance Scheme will one day be introduced in South Africa, the search is still on to find an appropriate funding model for it. Godongwana spoke to SABC News ahead of his tabling the mid-term budget policy statement, scheduled for the 1st of November.
