Manila, Philippines, Day 3.1 - Chicken Bacolod Inasal & De Original Jamaican Pattie/Patty (Beef Patties) Shop [4K]

Featured in this video, is the morning and afternoon of the 3rd day of my Manila, Philippines adventure.
Starting the video off with a (late) morning coffee and vape at my hotel’s lobby (New World Makati Hotel) and lounge area that has a beautiful koi fish pond to relax to.
After the morning coffee routine, I wanted to try out some proper and legit Filipino Chicken Inasal where it is made best - right here in the Philippines of course. I was originally wanting and planning to go to the famous Mang Inasal chain; but, while perusing the Greenbelt area, I saw this chicken inasal restaurant - Bacolod Chicken. Since it was so close and convenient to the hotel, I thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot.” And, boy was I happy to have given it a shot.
Ordered was the garlic rice, chicken inasal, chicken sisig and beef bbq sticks. The only “meh” item ordered were the beef bbq sticks. They were very tasty and flavorful; just a tad on the chewy and tough side though. But, everything else was super excellent and exceeded my expectations greatly. I’ve never had sisig made from chicken before; however, this chicken sisig was prepared in a way that resembled pork sisig very well (and very deliciously). It was nicely spiced, deep in flavor, crisp and charred on the bottom just right and was really succulent. The star of the show though, was their chicken inasal. Hard to describe. I am from the US and I’ve never had really good chicken inasal before. But, Chicken Bacolod’s was the best inasal I’ve had in my life, if that says anything. It was perfectly cooked and well marinated, very moist, juicy and tender. The seasonings used and its’ flavors were well balanced, deeply savory and aromatic; a memorable chicken inasal. I enjoyed this overall meal at Chicken Bacolod tremendously.
For the last half of this video, I bought some Jamaican patties from yet another place I also incidentally came across while perusing the Greenbelt area - De Original Jamaican Pattie Shop. This place surprised me, as I totally wasn’t expecting to see or find delicious Jamaican beef patties in the Philippines. I was ecstatic to say the least. So, I got four of their patties to try out - Original (beef), Cheezy Beef, Chicken Stew and Tomato Beef. First of all, I quickly noticed that these beef patties were truly authentic looking - very big, flat and wide with a nice flakey and toasted crust. These had to be handmade. The Original contained the typical complex blend of seasonings and spices in the ground beef that you would find in a traditional Jamaican beef patty. It was impressive (just like all of the other patties I got) and delicious. The Cheezy Beef was similar to the Original, except it had a slightly creamier and cheesier texture and taste (obviously, from the added cheese). The Chicken Stew was a bit different from the beef options. It too was similar to a typical Jamaican patty you’d find elsewhere in the world - but of course, of the chicken variety instead. It was milder, moister, peppery and had a nice, welcoming chicken warmth and flavor to it (think chicken dumpling soup). Last, was the Tomato Beef. It was a very good and tasty patty too; but personally, maybe my least favorite (it’s all subjective and personal..others might love it though. I prefer the classics). It was noticeably more tart and tangy, and also maybe a tad sweeter, than the other beef options I tried; the flavor is called ‘Tomato Beef’ after all. All in all, De Original Jamaican Pattie Shop is awesomely delicious.
