No. Both are crappy against heavy armor without the use of finisher spamming, but that applies to literally every bad melee weapon.

But in the land of reality, the higher status actually makes a difference. As a side note i also tested the same Helicor build against a synoid built the same way (with just corrosive instead) and it still beat the helicor, albeit almost at the same time as the normal. This is due to the synoid having a high status even when just building for crit, it will always have that superior chance to proc a status affect.
