This guitar takes us right back to the earliest days of the history of the steel string guitar! The sales records of C.F. Martin & Co. first describe the 0-28 in 1852. As with her bigger sister, the 00-28, cosmetic modernisations were kept to a minimum in the design of the 0-1228-MD, keeping the main focus on the construction. The hand picked tone woods do give away that this is a deluxe instrument, but only the inlayed headstock logo and the maple binding indicate, that the 0-1228-MD is, indeed, modern.
The traditional, slotted headstock, pyramid bridge and herring bone purfling around the top pay tribute to the long history of this shape and the 12th fret neck-joint throw us back, sonically, to times long gone. To keep us from falling back too far, the 0-1228-MD too, is equiped with a VTS treated top, a carbon fiber bridge plate and modern, state of the art craftmanship.
If you love vintage but don’t want to miss out on modern technology you should have a go at this guitar.
