Finnish Army 122 PSH 74 (2S1 "Gvozdika"/2С1 «Гвоздика») self-propelled howitzer firing a salvo of 6 rounds.
Finland bought some 2S1 from the East German (GDR/DDR) surplus stocks after the unification of Germany. Initially FDF would have wanted to buy 2S3 instead, but since they were so worn out FDF decided to buy the 2S1, which were in pristine condition. FDF has 72 in fully working order and placed into wartime formations, some sources say there are more of them but they are intended for spares and might not be equipped with FDF communications systems and such.
The 122 PSH 74 is placed into FDF mechanised formations (BMP-2 and MT-LBV battalion tactical groups, of which 2 of each exist, each having an artillery battalion of 18 guns). FDF has acquired also newer South Korean K9 self-propelled howitzers (155 PSH K9 FIN), which will supposedly replace the 122 PSH 74 in due course.
