Nancy continues the Great Basics series. The book is available at [ Ссылка ]. This time she will show how to set the nine patch on point. She loves quilts that are made on point. It makes the quilt larger and more interesting. On point means the blocks are set on the diagonal. When the quilt is on point, you have to put in setting triangles, corner triangles and setting squares.
Last time Nancy showed how to make the nine patch blocks. The last step with the nine patch block is to spray sized it. She likes to use a wool mat because it helps the block dry quickly and more flat.
Next Nancy will do some math for the setting triangles and corner triangles. Follow along with Nancy as she explains how to do it. Nancy has spray sized the fabric. Square off one side and turn it around. Nancy cuts the squares then cuts the diagonals. If you are using striped fabric, make note which direction the stripes are going when placing them in the quilt. Place a post it note for each section.
Building the quilt in halves helps to put it together easier. Pin the rows together before sewing so the seams line up. Sew and press with spray sizing. If using stripes, make sure the stripes are always going in the same direction.
