It's put up or shut up time for the fast-food industry when it comes to offering kids healthier meal alternatives, says Panera Bread's Founder and CEO Ron Shaich. 'We are once again challenging this industry to do what they should do, which is to have a different approach to kids meals -- these marketing gimmicks [such as toys, marketing characters] are just the wrong thing to do, as are the sugary beverages that are coupled with these meals,' Shaich told TheStreet in an interview at a New York City Panera Bread location. Shaich is about to show others in the space such as McDonald's and Burger King how kid's meals should be done in the year 2016.
