Finding silence in the mind, vital, and physical is an indispensable aspect of Yoga. By quieting mental activity and the outward urge, our being turns inward. We establish a solid foundation of peace and become better able to listen to the call of the psychic being. Simultaneously, the more the mind finds silence, the more it can let a higher knowledge and power of thought-realization enter in. Then the mind ceases to interrupt or spoil the inspiration with its own more shallow devices. As its interest in the mechanical and superficial activity wanes, by the finding of silence, the mind discovers its true purpose as an organ for receiving the higher mind consciousnesses. Part 2 in a series on The Silent Mind.
