At the 2023 Defenders of Liberty Air Show right at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, LA.
The bomber legacy flyby consisting of the B-25 “Devil Dog” from the Commemorative Air Force organization and Barkdale’s own B-52 Stratofortress. After the formation flyby were some flybys by the B-25 Mitchell. Afterwards the B-52 returns for what I personally believe is the Barksdale Air Show trademark flyby. That would be the “B-52 Wall of Fire”! I felt the heat for sure!
Note: Although I traveled all the way from New Jersey as I was interested in seeing a good aerial showcase of the B-52 Stratofortress, the 2023 Defenders of Liberty Air Show was a pretty good show and I had fun for sure. However what I was a bit disappointed about was I thought I’d expect to see more flybys of the B-52 rather than just two passes from up high the entire day. I thought I’d expect to see the flybys in the same sense as the ones the public gets to witness at other shows, such as that Miami Air & Sea Show in Florida you’ve seen from spectators on youtube I was expecting low flybys consisting of a slow dirty pass with the gear and flaps down, a low high speed pass, and also since this is one of the home base for the B-52, was hoping to see this aircraft land in front of the crowd and deploying the chute during the show. So in a way I was pretty surprised this was all we got to see from the B-52 and it was quite disappointing. But all in all it was a good rest of the day during the Air Show with more aerial performances to come under optimum weather conditions.
