The filthy secrets of World War II brothels. Just recently we explored the role of brothels during the War to End all Wars. Today, we’ll be diving into how the part brothels had to play evolved during the war directly after and how the oldest profession in all of human civilization took on a much darker and more sinister posture.
Anyone with a meager grasp of World War II knows that the conflict had more than its fair share of horrific atrocities. One of the biggest perpetrators of these atrocities and filthy secrets was the Japanese Imperial Army. During their conquest of Asia, and attempt to create a pan-Asian union to resist European powers, they subjected all those they conquered to torturous treatment. It doesn’t take much deduction to see the title of this video, hear the term “comfort women”, and figuring out what their purpose was. But while the job of prostitute during World War I was a paid gig, the role of comfort women was nothing other than a sex slave ring commissioned by the Japanese military.
Not to be outdone by the Japanese, the Third Reich found their own way to further pervert an already perverse trade. During the Holocaust, the Nazis employed a system of prostitution for their troops that resembled the comfort girl system of the Japanese, with a few key differences.
