Ned Cooper became a lawyer because he believed the legal system was "the best point of intervention" to fight for social justice. Confronted with the impacts of software designed to to predict future criminals, he shifted his focus to cybernetics.

What is Cybernetics?
The ANU Master of Applied Cybernetics is the world’s first graduate program focusing on the challenges of ensuring new technological systems are safe, sustainable and responsible. It is the flagship program of the ANU School of Cybernetics, which aims to re/fit cybernetics in the 21st century and establish it as an important tool for navigating major societal transformations.
Entry to the program is by competitive application only, and the number of students is strictly limited to under 20. Students are selected on a cohort basis to represent a mix of disciplines, experiences and demographics. Scholarships are available to those accepted into the program.
