1. Remember, most DPTs are extremely average at what they do. When you're at a convention of average people, they will make you more average.
2. When the event is sponsored by an organization that supports average, (the American Physical Therapy Association), and has average vendors selling their gadgets (hyper ice, thera gun, k-tape, rock tape, etc.) you start to fall into the conventional model trap. They are there to make money NOT help you or your patients.
3. Conventional thinking wants you to reinvent the wheel with "evidnce based practice" and spending hours combing through research. Instead of doing that, use the accepted science that you spent years and hundreds of thousand of dollars learning. Make science your guide, it's not going to change any time soon.
So, don't get comfortable and celebrate, be uncomfortable and ask the hard questions that will keep you out of the mess.
