New Yorkers rang in the Chinese New Year, on Saturday (February 10), at Chinatown's annual Firecracker Ceremony.

Spectators celebrated the Year of the Dragon with a colorful show of lion dances, music, and firecrackers.

Sydney's Chinatown roared to life on Saturday night to welcome in the Lunar New Year of the dragon, with locals and foreign students alike enjoying the sights and sounds of a street festival.

And to be honest in the past few years, a lot of things happening in the world and it’s not all positive and we believe dragon hopefully will bring us some change to the trajectory.”

A day earlier, celebrations erupted on Friday in India's eastern Kolkata as the Chinese community living in the city marked the eve of the New Year.
