INGREDIENTS
1 kg - kathal (jackfruit, unripe)
4 - onions, big
20-25 Garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
2-3 green chillies
oil for deep frying, mustard or any
1.5 tsp - chilli powder
1 tsp -Turmeric powder
1.5 - sabzi masala
Salt to taste
Gram masala -5 cloves, 1/4 flower of javatri, 1/4 of nutmeg, 2-3 small sticks of cinnamon ,1 big elachi ,4 small elachi.
How to make Kathal
Before cutting jackfruit, spread a little oil on your palms to avoid the jackfruit from sticking to your hands.
Peel the kathal and chop into pieces.
Heat oil in kadai and deep fry the kathal
For curry make paste of garlic ,ginger and green chilies
Add mustard oil in a pressure cooker and add bay leaves into it .
Add chopped onions in it , fry the onions until they are golden brown
Add ginger-garlic -chillies paste
Add red chilly power , sabzi masala and turmeric in it.
Cook the masala untill oil separates and curry changes its color to dark brown
Once oil separates ,add fried kathal in it and also add little water and let it cook for 4-5 whistles
After 5 whistles , our kathal is ready to eat ..
