Vijayakumar's elder daughter Kavitha acted as Sarathkumar's younger sister in Kooli directed by P.Vasu.

Eldest daughter Kavita is married and lives in America with her husband Ravi Shankar. Second daughter Dr. Anitha is in Dubai with her husband Gokulakrishna.

Son Arunkumar got the chance to play the lead role in the film 'Murai Mappillai' . He married Aarti, daughter of Dr. NS Mohan, who acted in several films after that film. They have two children, Purvi and Arnav Vijay. In this, Arnav Vijay will make his debut as a child star in Sarov Shanmugam's film produced by Suriya. Through him, the third generation from Vijayakumar's family has entered the art world.

The third daughter, Vanitha, born on 5 October 1980, made her debut as a heroine in the 1995 Vijay-starrer Chandralekha. She was married to actor Akash. They have a son Vijaysree Hari and a daughter Jovika. Second, she married Rajan Anand. They have a daughter named Jayantika. She then married and divorced Peter Paul.

Born on January 10, 1983, the fourth daughter Preetha married director Hari, who made her debut as the female lead in Suriya-starrer Chandnapoma and acted in several films including Ponnuveethukaran, Padayappa, Sami Desam. They have 3 son.

Sridevi, the fifth daughter, was born on 29 October 1986. He made his debut as a child star in 1992 in the movie "Rickshaw Mama". After that she acted in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films like Dear Friend, Didthikithe, Devathaiyai Kandaen and married Rahul on 18th June 2009.

Like his father, son Arunkumar chose the acting profession and came to act. Vijayakumar's father Rengaswamy passed away at the age of 95 and mother at the age of 90.

Vijayakumar, who is now 80, has two wives, Muthukannu and Manjula. He has a son named Arun Vijay, 5 daughters, 14 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. It is noteworthy that the second wife Manjula passed away in 2013. Only Vanitha Vijayakumar is living separated from all her family members.
