Jeremy Hunt, chairman of the health and social care committee, says the government and NHS need to put in a long-term plan to improve staffing levels and reduce pressure on NHS staff. He tells Sky News: "There aren't enough doctors and nurses and the long-term way to reduce pressure is to put a plan in place that guarantees we really are training enough doctors and nurses for the future." The environment secretary, George Eustice, says: "Having been through this pandemic, one of the things that we're doing is recruiting more staff and we've already recruited an extra 12,000 nurses."
