“A few years ago, my coffee farm was characterized by low yields, often due to diseases related to #climatechange. When #Solidaridad came to this region, they provided us with improved coffee# seedlings and also trained us on good #coffee agronomic practices. Since I adopted these practices, my yields have increased from 900 to 1,900 kilogrammes! #Solidaridad also persuaded me to venture into #dairy farming.
I sell milk through the Karithathi Dairy Hub, where I also serve as a leader. #Solidaridad also equipped the dairy hub with a milk cooler, lactometer, and backup generator. The hub has made it easy for dairy farmers in this community to aggregate and sell their milk at competitive prices. Importantly, dairy farming has enabled coffee farmers to diversify their #income streams and create employment opportunities,” Patrick Munyi, a coffee farmer in Kirinyaga, Kenya.
