We’ve all heard of BPA and how it’s a hormone disrupting chemical… but did you know it’s found in most receipts?!
BPA is commonly used to create the shiny, smooth surface of the paper and can leach into our skin when we handle receipts. This chemical is an endocrine disrupter which mimics estrogen, and may increase the risk of miscarriage and affect sperm production, among other problems. Good to know! 👀🔍
Here are our top tips to help you limit exposure from receipts:
1️⃣ Try to avoid them or ask for e-receipt if possible.
2️⃣ After handling a receipt, wash your hands thoroughly, especially before eating.
3️⃣ If you’re dealing with receipts often, try wearing gloves so your skin isn’t directly touching the thermal paper.
