We will continue to consolidate traditional friendship and deepen practical cooperation in various fields with Myanmar as always in support of the efforts by the Burmese side in realising stability and development and improving people's livelihood."

STORYLINE:
Chinese authorities have condemned the mortar attack on a UN base in Mali and called for additional measures to protect UN peacekeepers.
Speaking at a regular news briefing on Monday, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Hua Chunying also called for effective measures to protect UN peacekeepers.
At the same briefing, China congratulated the winning party of Myanmar in the election and pledged to "continue to consolidate traditional friendship with Myanmar".
Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) won a landslide victory in Myanmar after general elections on 8 November.
Hua also said China and India should be "long-standing and natural strategic and cooperative partners" and the two countries will "properly tackle" the issue of border disputes.
