Recording dates of both late 1949 and March 1950 have been quoted for this and the also-posted flipside “Mambo No. 5.” Issued in the U.S. during the spring months of ’50, both tracks helped further the international reputation of Cuban-born Prado as the new “King Of The Mambo.” Originally issued as “(Que Rico) El Mambo,” the tune was further popularized that year in a recording by Dave Barbour, but with the altered title “Mambo Jambo,” by which it remains best-known.
CD audio, originally issued on RCA Victor 23-1546 (International) 20-3782 (US 78) and 47-3782 (US 45) - (Que Rico) El Mambo (Prado) by Perez Prado & his Orchestra, recorded Dec 2, 1949, or March 7, 1950 .
