In Sungai Petani, two policemen were remanded for allegedly soliciting RM10,000 bribes from a loan shark in April.
Magistrate Adibah Husna Zainal Abidin allowed the seven-day remand application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, MACC.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act, which provides a fine five times the bribe amount and up to 20 years in jail.
In a statement, the Kedah MACC said the two police corporals aged 34 and 37 are attached with the Kuala Muda district police headquarters and were picked up yesterday afternoon in Sungai Petani.
The MACC said the loan shark claimed two policemen had solicited RM10,000 as an inducement to not take action against him for being involved in illegal money lending activity.
