Seventeen-year-old Tuhin Dey is wheelchair-bound. He holds the pen with his mouth to write and operates gadgets using his chin. The boy from West Bengal is in Kota for coaching for engineering entrance examination because he wants to follow in the footsteps of his idol, space physicist Stephen Hawking. Tuhin has been awarded twice for his exceptional educational talent despite his disability, which has impaired his limbs and other body parts. The boy wants to go to an IIT to become a cosmologist like Hawking. Tuhin’s mother, Sujata Dey (38), said he suffers from a congenital muscular disease called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC), a disorder that develops during pregnancy and leads to reduced mobility of joints of hands, legs and shoulders.
