Giraffes are famous for their long necks – but did you know they also use them as weapons? Males engage in so-called “necking” to fight for the right to mate. Some scientists even believe this is why giraffes evolved such long necks in the first place.
With head and neck weighing up to 140 kg, a bout of necking can be dangerous. Captured on camera, an older and younger bull battle over a female. Which strategy will prove victorious? And what happens when lions start closing in?
