Former US President Jimmy Carter was joined in Haiti Friday by peacekeeping partners Senator Sam Nunn and General Colin Powell.
The trio helped broker the deal last October that saw the peaceful end to three years of military dictatorship in Haiti .
They're back on the island to assess security as the United States prepares to hand over peacekeeping responsibility for the mission to the United Nations.
Peace negotiator Jimmy Carter continued discussions with Haitian officials today (Friday) as the US gets ready to hand over to the United Nations.
He was greeted warmly by former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide the man he helped restore to power.

Carter is assessing progress on security and economic issues in Haiti.
He was joined Friday by fellow peace-negotiators Senator Sam Nunn and retired General Colin Powell who will assess the current security situation.
They are flying to southern Haiti where US troops are currently being reduced from 21 to 3-thousand
The meetings will continue through tomorrow when Carter and the other delegates return to the U-S.
