"This test is very important and the decision of the Chinese company XPENG, which is worth over 20 billion US Dollars, which is the biggest manufacturer of electrical cars in China and now it is inventing flying cars. It has the capacity for testing and manufacturing, it has engineers, it has logistic and industrial channels. It takes this experience and capacity to develop flying cars. Of course, they got the best partner in the world which is the Emirate of Dubai because we are ready to do testing, we are willing to move forward and develop. Impossible does not exist, as our leadership says. Today by this testing we proved to the company, and we are confident that their headquarters should be in Dubai and it should be the first city for flying transport of people."

"We are here ready to build a framework, the vehicle is not the only important issue, but the framework that we want to deal with the private sector in the Emirate of Dubai in order to organize the first framework of its kind in the world. So, in God's will after establishing such rules that we are working on in partnership, we expect that in 2024 the new generation of the new vehicles will be ready and in 2026 you will see more flying testing. This car is 700 kilograms, and it flies and from a distance you would not know that it is 700 kg, it looks like a drone but it can fly for 140 km in 45 minutes, this is the first step in achieving the dream."

A futuristic looking flying taxi has taken to the air above Dubai.
The Chinese-made eVTOL, or "electric vertical takeoff and landing", offers a glimpse into the future of urban transport.
STORYLINE:
Is it a car? Or a plane? Or a drone?
This vehicle-cum-aircraft looks like a larger version of a regular drone.
Created by a Chinese company called XPENG AEROH, this test of the electric flying taxi offers a glimpse into the future, where people may one day soar through over the city to their destination, leaving traffic jams far below.
The XPeng X2, developed by the Guangzhou-based XPeng Inc's aviation affiliate, is one of dozens of flying car projects around the world.
Only a handful have been successfully tested with passengers on board, and it will likely be many years before any are put into service.
This demonstration takes place with an empty cockpit, but the company says it carried out a manned flight test in July 2021.
"This test is very important" says Omar Al Khan, the executive director of Dubai chamber of commerce and industry.
