LOWELL THOMAS, CBS RADIO NEWS, DEC. 11, 1975
I greatly admired legendary broadcaster Lowell Thomas (1892-1981) and had frequent contact with him in the final years of his remarkable career. In the 1970s I recorded a number of his “Lowell Thomas Brings The News” 7 p.m. radio newscasts over CBS Radio. Check out my YouTube Channel and Playlists section for the many Lowell Thomas newscasts I’ve already uploaded and watch for more still to come. Here is the broadcast I recorded on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1975.
Among the reports: Former Greek dictator Georgios Papadopoulos (1919-1999) on trial for his life; annexation of Spanish Sahara; Henry Kissinger warns in Brussels that Soviet expansion in Angola and elsewhere could threaten detente; Senate approves most sweeping bank reform since the Great Depression; Elliot Richardson nomination as Secretary of Commerce; George Wallace ruled ineligible for matching Federal campaign funds; updates on James Hoffa and Patty Hearst cases.
