Today, we honor the arrival of our ancestors who, along with our African and other peoples, brothers and sisters, toiled for the development of our dear beloved country, Guyana.
The now freed men former slaves were kind to our ancestors and helped teach English and realities on estate life!!
I implore all to let us use the tools, skills, and talents that were brought from these different territories and continue to build this nation upward to prosperity. Despite our individual talents, gifts, foods, dances, languages, and religious practices, let us never forget that we are a part of one identity: "One People, One Nation with One Destiny" as we are supposed to be.
