You can regain knee range of motion after a knee replacement surgery for years. But there are different phases of recovery and each phase has a different knee range of motion focus.

I break the process of gaining range of motion down into three phases. There is the acute post op phase 1 (day 1 to day 10) in which the goal is to normalize basic functional movement, reduce pain, manage edema. Sub acute post op phase 2 (day 11 to week 11) is where we want to work on improving range of motion without significantly increasing inflammation. Phase 3 is anything after 12 weeks. The initial tissue remodeling is mostly complete and now you are working on stretching mature tissue.
