We've been fans of Kalahari since they opened in 2015, and have become even bigger fans after the expansion with the addition of a bunch of thrill slides in around 2017. This massive park is 220,000 square feet, making it the second largest water park in the US. It also has an adjoining 40,000 square foot arcade with bowling and mini golf. This is a guaranteed good time even if weather if unpredictable. Renting a room here gives you access to the water park day-of check-in, and until 3:00 departure day. They have a wrist band system to monitor this, however if you do not leave at 3:00 you can stay...you just can't re-enter. We tend to stay for one night and make the best of arrival and departure day. This is less than 2 hours from NYC and a great escape within a reasonable distance. Rooms tend to be pricey so if you don't want to splurge on a room, you can still access the water park and arcade by purchasing a limited number of day passes. They also offer cabana rentals within the park which make for a great headquarters if you don't have a room, have young kids or are with a big group. We tend to put our towels (which they provide) and belongings on free available seating areas and use that as our meeting spot. Lockers are available to rent if you need one. They also have restaurants within the facility so there is no need to leave once you get there! Our favorite rides are:
Anaconda (water roller coaster)
Barreling Baboon (winds you in and out of the building in a tube slide)
Elephant's Trunk (270 foot tube slide)
Rippling Rhino (2-3 riders)
Smoke That Thunders (family raft ride)
Victoria Falls (family raft ride)

Check out some of he Gopro POV water slide footage.
Their outdoor section is really cute for young ones when it's open during the summer.
If you're looking for more to do outside, they have a ropes course and zip lines.
Tips:
Midweek stays are the best rates.
For day passes look into groupon.
They are not strict about bringing in plastic bottles of water, sodas or snacks.
One towel is issued per person which can be swapped out throughout the day for a dry one. (must return w/ your wrist band at end of day)
There are many lifeguards, you do not need to know how to swim to enjoy yourself here.
Free life jackets are available.
