This video takes the 1.1 million stars in Gaia DR2 with OB colours (bp_rp - e_bp_min_rp_val < 0) and renders them as a density isosurface within a 10 kpc sphere using Bailer-Jones distances ([ Ссылка ]).
Technical details: used 20x20x20 parsec bins, a gaussian smoothing sigma of 20 parsecs, and a logistic spread k factor of 4. These values bring out low density features in the galactic halo.
Shows the 10% density value.
Animation in Blender. Best viewed in a loop.
Warning: care needs to be taken in interpreting the structures visible in this animation. Because many of the stars with Bailer-Jones distances have very high parallax errors, and many are missing because of high dust extinction (or may be included because of incorrect colours) , this should not be considered a map but rather a visualisation of the Bailer-Jones data set.
