I sat in front of Bar Refaeli in business class from Toronto to Tel Aviv. She didn't seem to want to chat. She even tried to hide her face with a scarf when she walked back to her seat from the bathroom. The only English I heard her speak was asking for the salmon for her meal. (After I chose chicken. Darn! We could have had the salmon on common!) Otherwise, she spoke Hebrew to her friend. (Or boyfriend? I'm not sure who he was.) I was awake the whole 11-hour flight, with my brain trying to figure out a way to talk to her. I figured if I just said the right thing, we'd start talking the whole flight and would become BFF's. But I never saw an opening. Then at the baggage pick-up, I decided I had to try to say something. So I told her: "I don't want to bother you, but I just want to say I admire your environmental work. I do lots of environmental work. I tweeted that to you. So, you could Favourite the tweet." She quietly said: "Thank you. Thank you." Then she got her bags. You can tell here how much she seems to have enjoyed our conversation. So I guess I'm not replacing her ex-boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio. Though, to be fair, it was after a long flight, and she had already been on a flight from San Francisco before this one. And she had missed her flight in San Francisco because her car driver had taken her to the wrong airport - which I knew because I checked her Twitter, and also the press was reporting on her tweet where she said she missed her flight. So, there might still be hope for us. And I know that one day I will be a famous radio or TV host and I'll have her on my show and we'll have a good laugh about this story. If we're not already married by then. (Filmed June 28, 2014)
