So, I'm at Rhoten Studios today, and we solved Active Fader workflow issues using the AMS Neve 8424 (with the motorized faders) and LUNA.
Some issues came up, which we discuss in this video.
Basically, start by sending all tracks you want on the console via Unity Sends thru an Apollo.
In order to deal with the issue that each fader on the console is a Mono Fader, and Luna has some Stereo Faders, you create ghost tracks which you link to the Stereo Fader so the number of faders you see in LUNA matches the number of faders you see on the board. This is important, as you also want to hide any tracks that are NOT sending to the board. You can still use SPILL to call these up, and you can still use the board to adjust them.
This allows you to write automations in LUNA that control ANALOG FADERS on the AMS NEVE 8424 console in Active Fader mode (not DAW mode).
We made a video explaining all this. It is unlisted, but feel free to share it with anyone who has an 8424 console with active faders and wants to get LUNA working well with it. Please enjoy.
UPDATE: Also you can remove the MAIN from your spill by deselecting it in the CONTROLLERS page/SHOW MAIN ON TRACK.
