The Supreme Court has given a very important decision regarding the SC / ST Act. During the hearing, the Supreme Court said,'If any person insults or threatens a SC / ST person within the boundary of a building, it would not be considered an offense under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989'. According to the report published in the Indian Express, the case is of Hitesh Verma, a resident of Uttarakhand. A woman had registered a case under the SC-ST Act against him. Hitesh Verma had demanded in the High Court that the charge sheet filed under this Act should be canceled, but the High Court did not consider it. Then, Hitesh Verma had challenged this in the Supreme Court.
