Often overlooked by tourists, some of Germany's cutest fairytale villages are tucked away in the Harz mountains. So, for our first stop on this Harz Mountains road trip, we visited gorgeous Goslar. With it's crumbling city walls, UNESCO heritage listed cobbled streets and old town, and tiny miners' houses, Goslar couldn't be any cuter and more traditionally German.
We spent a day wandering the historic Old Town of Goslar and the Mines of Rammelsberg. We were also in luck, because we arrived during the popular annual Goslar Arts and Crafts Fair, where over 150 stalls sell there wares all over town, attracting thousands of visitors from near and far. Lovingly-designed small masterpieces and creative craftsmanship are presented around the Marktkirche (Market Church), in the picturesque Schuhhof (Shoe Yard) and on the Markt (Marketplace), in and around the large Holy Cross, on the banks of the river Abzucht and around the Jakobikirche (Church of Saint James).
Goslar really is one of Germany's best fairytale villages.
