At the end of the War of the Ring described in The Lord of the Rings following Sauron's definitive defeat, some orcs managed to save themselves and flee. What happened to these orcs? Were they able to continue living in Middle Earth? Could they establish cities for themselves? Or perhaps the question should be were orcs capable of surviving and building a civilization without a master to lead them?
