Aviation Week was invited on a 90-min. demonstration flight on the Legacy 450 operated by Air Service Liege from Brussels to Saint-Tropez La Mole. With two pilots and seven passengers – the maximum payload for landing there – Capt. Cedric Gurdand prepared the cabin for auto-brake high, in order to demonstrate the full performance of the aircraft. He would normally land at auto brake medium for a more comfortable passenger experience.
With a landing speed of 105 kt. and landing weight of 26,081 lb., the aircraft stopped in 1,312 ft. after the nose gear touched the ground 656 ft. after the threshold. The Legacy 450 can use the full length of the runway on departure, but Gurdand used just 2,296 ft. before we were airborne at a takeoff speed of 107 kt.
