Our cellphilm was based off of our educational experience at the Wabanaki Way Exhibit in the Fredericton Regional Museum where we learned about many different aspects of Wabanaki culture. Our target audience for this film would be all educators in the province of New Brusnwick, and also students in grades 6-8. In our film, we aimed to capture the respect that the Wabanaki people have for the land, and how they are known as being caretakers of the Earth. They make use of the land in many different ways with the most notable being the use of plants such as sage, sweet grass, cedar and tobacco as medicine for healing. They were also the first to create canoes from birch bark in order to travel the oceans and the inland waterways. Ceremonies play an important role in the Wabanaki culture as they are a celebration of their way of life through traditional food, dancing, singing and chanting. As a response to visiting the Wabanaki exhibit, we acknowledge the Wabanaki way of life and will continue to expand our knowledge on their culture.
