BJP may call not have earned the expected dividends out of its Hindutva campaign at the 2024 state assembly election. Yet the state government is out to push its aggressive Hindutva agenda in a new form. Police chiefs of a couple of Western UP districts have issued diktats to local vendors to display their names even on their ‘thelas’ , shops , etc. And the reasons are not far to seek. The idea is to prevent ‘kanwariyas’ (Shiva devotees) taking out their Sawan yatra to not buy eatables from Muslim vendors.
Where is BJP trying to take this nation ? And will this pay dividends ?
