At the Winter NAMM Show 2020, RME built on their reputation as the Masters of Networking by unveiling three all-new audio networking devices – the 12Mic, AVB Tool and M-1610 Pro. Featuring outstanding performance, reliability and functionality, these new products represent the next generation in audio network technologies.
We caught up with RME’s developer Marc Schettke for a rundown of the all-new 12Mic, RME’s first preamp for audio networks.
Designed as the perfect companion for any professional recording setup, the RME 12Mic features twelve microphone and line level inputs with digital, no-compromise, studio-quality conversion.
Pairing the new 12Mic with the Fireface UFX+ would create the ultimate recording system, offering an incredible amount of I/O that could work perfectly in even the most demanding professional recording studio.
Following the recommendations of the MILAN standard, the 12Mic features two fully redundant network ports. These standards allow RME devices to be both discovered and fully controlled by any AVB controller and makes vendor-specific control protocols a thing of the past.
As well as the networking capabilities that AVB brings, the 12Mic also has a multitude of other connectivity options. These include both coaxial and (optional via an SFP module) optical MADI I/O, as well as three ADAT outputs, offering the flexibility to route many different signal combinations.
