The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has said that the Delta variant, widely referred to as the 'Indian' variant, is 40% more transmissible than other strains of the virus.
He urged people to get vaccinated and said that getting two doses of the vaccine offers maximum protection against the Delta variant.
Hancock also said it was "too early" to determine whether the Government could lift all remaining coronavirus restrictions on June 21.
