On the second last day of our French Alps cycling tour we tackled the fabled 21 bends of the Alpe d’Huez climb. The sheer number of cyclists on this road is testament to its mythical status.
Although it was rainy on the way up, after our coffee/ hot chocolate/ shopping stop, the descent was mostly dry and allowed good speed on the straights and relatively safe cornering.
The road finishes a kilometer from Bourg d’Oisans, so we were only minutes from our apartment when the slope returned to zero.
This is an amazing mountain cycling experience and an absolute must for enthusiasts.
