An Indian state politician, Narottam Mishra, was rescued by helicopter during flash floods in central India's Madhya Pradesh on August 4.
The incident took place in the village of Kotra in the Datia district, as visuals show Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel lowering a rope to the minister and other villagers trapped on a rooftop over a flooded area.
Mishra, the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister, was visiting the marooned village during the monsoon flooding and reportedly received information about a few civilians stranded on the roof of a house in the flood-hit region and travelled there on a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) boat.
However, a tree suddenly fell on the boat, which prevented the rescue party from being evacuated by water. The minister was able to call other government officials for help and a rescue helicopter was organised to save the group.
