The Gibson L00 was introduced in 1929, but did not appear in the catalog until 1932. The L00 model was a great success during the Great Depression thanks to its small price tag and great sound. The L00 is one of Gibson's most desirable small acoustic guitars, and therefore also a real 'players' guitar.
The L00 has the typical understated Gibson features, such as a mahogany back and sides, and a sunburst finished spruce top with a firestripe pickguard. The mahogany neck has a solid profile and is fitted with a rosewood fingerboard.
This Gibson L00 was built in 1939 and is still in very good condition considering its age. The guitar has accumulated several traces of time over the years, but these give the guitar a unique character that cannot be artificially imitated. In addition, the guitar is very playable and has the typical vintage sound.
The guitar has undergone a neck reset and refret, with the 12" radius of the fingerboard from the fifth fret reshaped to 10". The bridge has also been scraped, with the bridge saddle and bridge pins replaced. In addition, the guitar has two repaired cracks on the back of the sound box. The guitar still has the original Kluson tuners, albeit with replaced buttons.
