Austrian actor Helmut Berger dies at the age of 78

Actor Helmut Berger died Thursday in Austria at the age of 78, according to what was stated in a written statement by Helmut Werner, the company that manages the works of the artist, who was the life partner of Italian director Lukino Visconti and one of the heroes of his films.

Long known for his good looks, the multilingual Austrian actor was best known for his roles in La caduta degli dei (The Damned) in 1969 and Ludwig in 1973 for Visconti, alongside Romy Schneider.
