GOD REVEALS HIMSELF IN UNEXPECTED WAYS; DISCOVER YOUR PERSONAL WAY IN EXPERIENCING HIM
A message was brought to Mary. She was to conceive and bear a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Angel assured her that she was favoured and God was with her. She should not be afraid. Her son shall be called "Jesus", meaning "the Lord saves".
"Is that from God? How could that be, I am a virgin?" she expressed her incomprehension. The Angel reaffirmed that 'the Holy Spirit will come upon you. The power of God will cover you. The child will be the Son of God. Your elderly cousin has conceived a child for six months. Nothing is impossible for God."
Mary listened and said 'Yes'. She conceived Jesus first with her ears and her heart, then in her womb. She said yes with faith and sought understanding gradually as she immersed in the mystery of God's plan for her.
Every life is visited by a revelation and call to commitment. Yes, God reveals himself to us too, often in unexpected ways, and even at difficult moments of our lives.
There was once a wealthy young man who desired to have a child soon after his marriage, but his wife could not conceive; it was a time when he was materially successful. Few years later, he lost multi-million dollars when the economy turned bad. He had not much business, yet his wife conceived. He was stunned with confusion until a wise old man told him, "When you were busy with your business, God decided you had not the right disposition to be a father. Now that you are free from your business obsession, God knows you have time for your child."
Today's first reading mentioned that King David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. Prophet Nathan said "No, not yet". His people must first experience God in their life, then only is temple worship meaningful for them.
Today, we want to worship in church, but the pandemic is putting some restrictions on us. Even for this very important feast of Christmas, many of us could not get a slot for Mass. Perhaps God is telling you something: He wants to come to you where you are. How do you prepare your heart and home to welcome Jesus? You have to take initiative, be creative, discover your personal way to experience Jesus.
